Requests to the Google Font Service API take place via domain names associated with that service, such as fonts.googleapis.com or fonts.gstatic.com, so that your font requests are separate and do not contain credentials send to google.com from other Google services you have been identified, such as Gmail. More information about Google Fonts and protecting your data while using it can be found here.
